PDO engineers completed SMI OCTG technology course

January 11th, 2011: Two engineers from Petroleum Development Oman L.L.C (PDO), one of the largest customer of SMI, successfully completed a fully comprehensive SMI OCTG technology training course held in Japan for ten weeks, from mid September to end of November, 2010.

This extensive training course spanned from class room lectures to discussions and practices concerning Sumitomo OCTG Manufacturing, Inspection & Testing, Materials selection, Corrosion, Connections, Basis of Design, Life Cycle Costing and QA/QC. Both PDO engineers very enthusiastically participated throughout the courses and assimilated the information received.

This program was planned as a part of engineer exchange program between PDO and SMI to enhance communication effectiveness between the parties.  One SMI engineer is planned to be exposd to drilling operations through immersion in PDO drilling engineering team in Oman from March 2011.
