Recognizing the importance of globally environmental preservation, Sumitomo Metals and the group companies have established the action guidelines to fulfill its social responsibility in doing business activities. The Sumitomo Metals Group contributes to the realization of globally environmental preservation and the building of a reduce-reuse-recycle society through the activities harmonizing with environmental preservation and socio-economic development. The head office, steel works, research laboratories and the group companies jointly promote the measures from the viewpoint of environmental preservation and energy and resource conservation. We establish, maintain and improve Environmental Management System, e.g. ISO14001 to promote and ensure our voluntary and consecutive activities for environmental preservation. Sumitomo Metals conducts a wide range of environmental activities including energy saving, the reduction and recycling of resources, and the development of environmental technology. We continue to be actively engaged in a number of programs aimed at constructing an environmental-aware society, and at environmental preservation on a global scale.
